April 12, 2012: Perks for past prez

I didn't expect to receive anything when I completed my term as a Board President. At the final meeting of the year, though, I was presented with a nice plaque. I hung it on the wall in my office.
In organizations I've served as CEO, that's the most any outgoing prez was ever given. And that seemed adequate.
A discussion on LinkedIn, however (or was it ASAE Collaborate?), revealed that many associations presented Past Presidents with lifetime memberships, travel expenses to meetings, or program registration fee waivers.
I don't think all of those perks are really necessary, but maybe a plaque just isn't enough.
